A black day for Indian democracy. Following an utter failure to contain a deadly Islamist (read not Islamic) riot by illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in Assam province, Government got 'Jo Huzoor' media bail it out. Within days, Islamists in Mumbai demonstrated violent protests against a handful death of fellow 'Muslim Brothers' in Assam and Rohingya terrorists in Myanmar. Result, public buses were burned, people's properties vandalized, police attacked, women raped in the name of 'Islamist' way of protest.

Mao Zedong, the first Chairman and President of the independent People’s Republic of China, had spent more time to assess weakness of India than Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Premier of independent India, wasted in apprehending China’s strength. Nehru remained confused on whether China's strength was communism or Han nationalism.

Thousands of brains have stormed to foresee whether Ramlila Ground would be the Tahrir Square of India. Well, the answer is clear now. It did not. Anna Hazare’s ‘Great Indian Fast’ against corruption ended with a declared ‘victory’. But looking at Indian government’s stance, future of the much desired anti-corruption law still does not look very bright. Also, the old Gandhian has stated his plans toward the next agenda – Electoral Reforms, Right to Reject and Right to Recall elected representatives charged with corruption. It is likely, that Ramlila Ground may witness much more in recent future. Nothing is over yet.

LITTLE ROCK — When the January referendum for South Sudan’s independence passed, along with the cheer for liberty, many fears gushed forth. Tomorrow, this planet will get its newest nation. This freedom came after a wait of five years since the comprehensive peace agreement was accorded between a cornered Sudan and the South Sudan People’s Liberation Movement. And freedom is precious. But in the case of South Sudan, there is little to cherish.

World got the shocking revelations on Himalayan glaciers before Copenhagen climate summit of 2007, and as we headed toward Cancun Conference during the end of 2010, concerns did spread across many nations. Climate change in and around the Indo-Himalayan glacier systems raised many eyebrows. It what was first published in 2007 - Fourth Assessment Report of Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) set up by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) pointing toward some factual observations.
